Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined” Official Images

The Air Jordan 5 is one of the most iconic sneakers in the expansive Air Jordan lineup, and its "Black Metallic" colorway has captured the hearts of sneaker enthusiasts since its initial release in 1990. With 2025 marking the 35th anniversary of this legendary silhouette, Jordan Brand is set to reintroduce the Air Jordan 5 "Black Metallic Reimagined," bringing a fresh take while honoring its storied past.

Designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 5 first hit the basketball courts during the 1989-1990 NBA season, with Michael Jordan himself wearing the "Black Metallic" colorway during the 1990 NBA All-Star Game. This model was inspired by World War II fighter planes, notably the P-51 Mustang, which is reflected in the shoe's shark-tooth detailing on the midsole. Over the years, this colorway has seen multiple re-releases, each time igniting excitement among collectors and fans alike. The last significant retro was in 2016, but now, in 2025, it’s coming back with a twist.
